Description

TQ 5856 IGHTHAM OLDBURY LANE 5/2 (south side) 1.8.52 Oldbury Hall II Farmhouse. Later C15 hall-house, with later additions at rear. Exposed timber-framing with curved wind-bracng and plaster-infilling. First-floor jetties to right and left supported on exposed joists and timber-brackets. Overhanging eaves in centre with eaved plaster soffit, containing small windows, to steep hipped plain tiled roof. Off-centre brick ridge at left. Two storeys; irregular fenestration of 4 first floor windows and 5 ground floor windows, all C19 casements. Modern vertically-panelled door off centre to right. Rear, and C19 extension to left of front, roughcast. Interior: Moulded dais beam with crenellated cresting survives in drawing-room. Fireplace with chamfered bressumer. Two plain crown-posts and moulded crown-post on combined and arch-braced tie-beam in roof. Listing NGR: TQ5875856505
