TQ 65 NW PLATT BONEASHE LANE 2/15 (west side) 1.8.52 The Homestead, Cobblestones and The Red Cottage GV II Formerly 7 cottages, now only 3. C14-C17. L-shaped in plan with upright of L following curve of the road backwards. (Cobblestones and the Red Cottage). The Homestead. At the eastern end of of the row forming the lower bar of the L. Late Late C18 brown random rubble stone with some flint galletting. Plain tiled ridge roof. Two storeys; irregular fenestration of casement windows, those on ground floor in segment-headed surrounds. Projecting wooden oriel on ground floor, towards road, in south and of wing. Entrance on east side of wing. Cobblestones. Dated 1784. Brown random rubble stone with same flint galletting. Plain tiled roof with stepped ridge. Two storeys; irregular 2 window front, casements, those on ground floor in segment-headed surrounds. Later central hipped porch. The Red Cottage. Possibly originally C16 hall-house, now much altered. Red brick ground floor, tile-hung first floor. Ground floor to south roughcast. Some exposed framing on ground floor. Hipped plain tiled roof. Two storeys; irregular fenestration of small wooden casements, those to right on ground floor in segment-headed surrounds. Modern lean-to porch with tiled hood to left of centre.
