Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 31/01/2017 TQ 76 SW 4/220 SNODLAND CP HIGH STREET (south side) No 70, The Church House (Formerly listed as Church of the New Jerusalem) GV II Former Nonconformist Church. Circa 1870 in an Early English style. Kentish ragstone, laid irregularly, with ashlar dressings and tiled roofs with gable parapets. Nave with north-west tower, chancel. Tower of three stages with bands between stages, half-height stepped course buttresses and crenellated parapet. Four joined lancets above arched and chamfered doorway in first stage, two larger lancets in second stage and single pointed lancets in third stage with bell-louvres. Four bay nave, the outer bays to the north hidden to right by tower and to left by projecting gabled vestry. Paired lancets with simple chamfers and drip-moulds. Two bay chancel with chamfered lancets and drip-moulds. Complete interior of the period. Simple undecorated ceiling with hammerbeam trusses. Stained glass to all but two lancet windows. Boxed altar with curtain and framed reredos. Organ case has arches decorated with quatrefoils, stiffleaf and finial details. Choir stalls and lectern have similar embellishments.Stone pulpit and font decorated with Early English inset arches and mouldings. Simply decorated Parclose. Pews have simple detail with roll top and arm rest benchends. Various brass plates and inscriptions. Listing NGR: TQ7018761886 .
