Former Assembly Rooms, now offices to 1st floor and restaurant on ground floor. c1750 on earlier foundations with good Regency elevation of c1800 restored late C20. Front of wood boarding incised to imitate masonry with shopfront. Side elevation has a ground floor of stone rubble with brick quoins, the 1st floor tile hung. Hipped tled roof. 2 storeys 1 window. Wooden parapet and deep modillion eaves cornice. Central wooden Venetian window with intersecting glazing to central light and pilasters. Ground floor has central curved bow with 6 half-columns and intersecting tracery to the fanlight. Right-hand side has half-glazed door. Right-hand side has 6-panelled door. Basement has Diocletian window with metal grille. Interior has half-winder staircase with column newels and square balusters. This building is almost identical to Tenterden Town Hall which it predates (qv Ashford District, Tenterden Parish).
