WEST MALLING TQ6957 HIGH STREET 1156-0/3/14 (East side) 01/08/52 Nos.59 AND 61 (Formerly Listed as: HIGH STREET Premises occupied by J.R.Stedman and Alfred Smith) GV II 2 shops and living accommodation above. C16 or earlier. Timber-framed building remodelled in early C19. Stuccoed with hipped tiled roof. Moulded wooden eaves cornice. 3 storeys 5 windows. No 61 has 2 16-pane sashes with glazing bars intact. No 59 has sashes without glazing bars but with horns. No 61 has a C20 shopfront. No 59 has a late C19 shopfront with deep fascia. Side elevation has C16 plank door. Internally No 59 has a brattished dais beam and early C16 linenfold panelling and door of 12 panels of linenfold panelling. To the right of this is some C17 plank and muntin panelling. Roll moulded beam and upright post on chamfered stone base. Ground floor window has original C16 stone surround. C19 marble fireplace.
