Description

HADLOW CHURCH STREET TQ 63 49 7/55 Iron railings to north of the - churchyard of the Church of St Mary GV II Iron railings including gateways. Probably circa 1880. Cast iron railings along the northern side of the churchyard. The railings are set into sandstone coping stones. Common rails with plain spear heads and standards have leafy fleur-de-lys finials. Main gateway at the west and from Church Street. It has stone gatepiers with pyramid caps. It contains double gates in which the common rails have leafy fleur-de-lys finials and the styles have more elaborate versions. Each gate has a curving brace. Simple overthrow with lamp bracket still with its lantern. In the centre, opposite the north porch, a small gate in the same style as the railings and at the east end another double gateway like the west one but missing its lantern from the overthrow.
