HADLOW CHURCH STREET TQ 63 49 7/33 Simmons chest tomb approx 2.5m - south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary

Chest tomb. Dated 1802 in memory of William Simmons. White marble on granite plinth. Chest has reeded corner pilasters. Each long side contains a circular plaque standing proud with a moulded frame under swags of nut-and- husk. Flat lid with moulded edges and moulded base on 2-step granite plinth. The plaques are inscribed in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering and the northern one records the death of William Simmons in 1802, the southern one commemorates Ann Simmons (d. 1823).
