Description

AYLESFORD CP CHURCH LANE TQ 7259 (north side) 11/33 Spong tomb monument 15 yards to the south - of Aylesford Church GV II Tomb monument. Dated 1815. Stone. Wide plinth to pedestal, with moulded foot and cornice, carrying large coade stone urn. Inscribed to John and Rosamund Spong. Wrought-iron railed surround with urns on standards. John Spong was the model for Mr Wardle of Dingley Dell in Charles Dickens "The Pickwick Papers". Listing NGR: TQ7294459015
