Description

HADLOW CHURCH STREET TQ 63 49 7/30 Pair of Kibble chest tombs - approx 3m west of the tower of the Church of St Mary GV II Pair of adjacent chest tombs. Dated 1832 and 1838 in memory of members of the Kibble family. Both are white marble on sandstone plinth. Identical chest tombs side by side. Each chest has reeded corner pilasters and all 4 sides have rectangular fielded panels with concave corners. Flat lid with moulded edges, moulded base and 2-step plinth containing sockets for iron area railings. Both are inscribed on the north side in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The southern chest tomb in memory of Caroline Kibble (d. 1832) and her husband William (d. 1866). The northern one in memory of Thomas Kibble (d. 1838). Listing NGR: TQ6342749723
