Description

STAPLEHURST CHICKENDEN LANE TQ 84 SW (East end) 4/73 Chickenden Farmhouse and Chickenden Cottage II Farmhouse, now house pair. C17, with C19 facade. Timber framed. Ground floor red and grey brick in Flemish bond, banded plain and fishscale tiles to first floor. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys. Steeply-pitched hipped roof. Brick ridge stack towards left, and slightly projecting brick stack to right gable end. Irregular fenestration of 4 casements; three 3-light, and one 2-light under stack. Panelled door under open porch beneath stack. Rear wing to right in similar materials, roof hipped to rear with lower ridge. Rear lean-to to main range. Interior not inspected.
