Description

TQ 7444 MARDEN HIGH STREET (north side) 5/64 Cornerways (formerly listed as the Farm 23.5.67 Shop) GV II House, formerly shop, now house. Early-to-mid C17, with C19 alterations. Timber framed, with rendered infilling. Both floors of right gable end weatherboarded, gable tile-hung. Plain tile roof. Two timber-framed bays and narrow stack bay. 2 storeys and garret. Largely renewed close studding and 2 tension braces to longer left bay, broadly-spaced studding and one tension brace to right bay. Jettied gable to left with moulded bargeboards and pendant. Eaves of right gable end jettied on shaped brackets, with roof half-hipped above. Multiple brick bridge stack to right of centre. Irregular fenestration of three windows; one three-light casement to left bay, and one single-light leaded casement to right, with small four-light diamond-mullion window adjacent to it under eaves. Tall boarded loading door to right gable. Similar loading door to first floor under, flanked by one three-light and one single-light ovolo-moulded mullion window. Ribbed door with rectangular light towards left end of front elevation, with bowed multipane former shop window to right of it, both under plain frieze. Lean-to to left end of front elevation, returning along left gable end. Short weatherboard two- storey rear wing to left with hipped plain-tile roof. Rear lean-to to right. Interior not inspected.
