Description

TQ 7444 MARDEN HIGH STREET (south side) 5/72 The Bridge House 23.5.67 GV II House. C17 or earlier, with C19 facade. Probably timber framed. Rendered. Rear half of right gable end tile-hung. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys. Low rendered plinth. Paired Ionic modillions to flat eaves soffits, which terminate in moulded wooden eaves cornice. Roof hipped to left, hip returning to rear, and half-hipped to right. Multiple red and grey brick ridge stack towards left end, with datestone illegible at time of re-survey. Projecting brick stack to right gable end. Regular 4-window front of rectangular two-light casements with Gothick glazing bars and squared moulded hoodmoulds; one to left and two to right of stack and one, smaller, beneath stack. Similar windows to ground floor. Door with flush panels and segmental head with hoodmould to left end. Similar door, also with hoodmould, under trellised segmental-headed porch beneath stack. Long rear return wing to left, also with Gothick casements, with projecting brick stack to long right side and roof three-quarters hipped to rear. Interior not inspected. Listing NGR: TQ7457044562
