STAPLEHURST HIGH STREET TQ 7843 (West side) 5/144 Saddlery Stores and Little London Cottage GV II House pair and shop. C18, with C19 alterations. Timber framed, weatherboarded, with plain tile roof. 2 storeys and attic on painted brick plinth. Gabled. Gable end stack to left, and rear stack to left of centre. 2 small hipped 2-light dormers. Irregular fenestration of 3 sashes; two 4-pane sashes to Saddlery Stores and one 12-pane sash to Little London Cottage. 3 canted bay windows to ground floor, 2 with leaded roofs. Panelled door under flat bracketed hood between left and central windows, to Saddlery Stores. Half-glazed door with row of ventilation holes over and with flat bracketed hood, to right end of stores. Panelled door with reeded architrave and paterae adjacent to it between right and central windows, to Little London Cottage. Plain- tile pentice across door and bay window of Cottage. Short rear wing. Interior not inspected. Formerly known as C.R. Wood Sadler, and the adjoining house on the north, occupier Fletcher. Included for group value. Listing NGR: TQ7856143183
