BOUGHTON MONCHELSEA THE GREEN TQ 75 SE (West side) 1/44 The Old Farmhouse GV II House. Late C16, with early and mid C17 additions and later alterations. Timber framed, rendered. First floor of right gable end weatherboarded. Plain tile roof. Lobby entry plan of 2 timber-framed bays and central stack bay. C17 addition to north (right), possibly built in two stages, comprising 3 timber-framed bays, that to centre very narrow. C17 wing of one timber-framed bay behind this addition. 2 storeys, attic and cellar on rendered plinth. Gabled. Multiple brick stack in front slope of roof to second bay from south, and multiple brick ridge stack to north gable end. 3 small hipped dormers. Irregular fenestration of 8 small wooden casements. Boarded door under open porch towards north end. Blocked doorway under left stack. Rendered 2-storey lean-to to left. 2 storey rear (west) wing towards north end, with weatherboarded first floor and gable and half-hipped roof with deep garret window, possibly formerly a loading door. Rear lean-to to main range. Interior: exposed framing. Chamfered beams and joists. Mortices for diamond mullion windows to both sections. Clasped purlin roof with windbraces and diminishing rafters to both sections, but of heavier scantling to late C16 section. Wing formerly with clasped purlin roof. Fireplace with moulded stone jambs and chamfered wooden bressumer to south ground-floor room, chamfered stone fireplaces with wooden bressumers to north side of same stack and to north end. Small stone fireplace to first floor south room. Listing NGR: TQ7676851337
