Description

YALDING TQ 64 NE Laddingford 3/153 Chapel House and Prince of Wales Cottage GV II House pair (possibly formerly non-domestic). C19 or (probably) earlier. Timber framed. Front elevation weatherboarded on both floors. Rear elevation painted brick to ground floor, upper floor tile-hung to left, weatherboarded to right. Plain tile roof. Crested ridge tiles to right of stack. 2 low storeys. Boxed eaves, slightly higher to front than to rear. Gabled roof. Red brick ridge stack towards centre, and projecting gault brick gable end stack to right. One flat-roofed dormer to right. Irregular fenestration of two paned casements, one two-light and one single-light, to left of stack only. Boarded door to Chapel House to left end, half-glazed door to rear to right to Prince of Wales Cottage. Lean-to to left gable end. Interior: only partly inspected. Right end appears to be aisled, but with arcade posts of rectangular section. Chamfered ground-floor axial beam, and joists of relatively square section to right. Brick fireplace with wooden bressumer, to right. Left section said to have framing of large scantling. Tombstone dated c.1620 said to have been found within house. Listing NGR: TQ6908548270
