TQ 75 NE BOXLEY BOARLEY LANE (east side) Boarley 5/55 Boarley Cottage (formerly listed as 26.4.68 Boarley Farm Cottage) G.V. II House. Early C17. Timber framed with plaster infilling and plain tile roof. L-plan. 2 storeys on plinth. Range parallel to road: 4 timber-framed bays. 2 central bays close-studded on ground floor. Left end bay added and separately framed with more broadly spaced close studding on ground floor. Continuous jetty with moulded brackets to 3 right bays and moulded dragon post on right corner. First floor has very broadly spaced studding with one almost straight tension brace in each of the 2 right bays. Left end bay has one very straight tension brace, and 2 cross-rails in right half only. Central stack in front slope of roof and pro- jecting stack on left gable end with broad galletted stone base. One C20 3-light casement at left end of third bay from right on first floor with cill for original window beneath it on ground floor. 2 other C20 ground floor windows. Right gable end close studded on ground floor with broadly spaced studding and straight tension braces on first floor. Rails a few feet from eaves, possibly originally for frieze windows. Jettied gable. One central C20 3-light casement on each floor. Rear wing of 2 timber framed bays continues to right of gable. Jettied with plain brackets. Roof hipped with gablet at right end.
