Description

BISHOPS LANE TQ 74 NW HUNTON (South Side) 4/60 Petty Hoo II Farmhouse. Late C16 or early C17, with C19 and C20 alterations. Timber framed. Ground floor painted brick in Flemish bond, first floor tile- hung. Plain tile roof. 5 timber-framed bays, central bay and bay to right of centre short. Possibly developed in 2 principal stages during C16 and C17. Two storeys and garret on brick plinth. Red brick stack parallel to ridge in short bay to right of centre. Irregular fenestration of two broadly-spaced 2-light casements. Blocked door under stack. Boarded door in short C20 single-storey extension to ridge gable end. Interior: exposed framing. Broader, soffit-pegged joists to second bay from left. Braced first-floor partition to right end of same bay. Gunstock jowls. Left half of roof ceiled. Clasped purlin roof to right of stack with queen struts to gable end collar, and mortices for windbraces. Listing NGR: TQ7232848784
