Description

OLD LOOSE HILL TQ 7552 LOOSE (East Side) 6/192 Vale House 25.7.52 GV II House. Early-to-mid C18, possibly with earlier core, and with later alterations. Purplish-red brick in Flemish bond, with lighter red brick dressings. Gable end of left return wing possibly timber- framed, now rendered. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys, attic and basement. Chamfered brick plinth. Moulded and dentilled wooden eaves cornice, the moulding returning to right and left elevations. Hipped roof, hips returning. Rear stacks to left and right. 2 small gabled dormers with moulded cornices and 2-light casements. Regular 3-window front of two 16-pane and central 12-pane sashes in open boxes, with splayed rubbed brick voussoirs, in altered openings. Two 24-pane ground-floor sashes. Central half-glazed and panelled door with fanlight. Later porch on iron columns. Left return elevation: chequered red and grey brick with plat band. 2 first-floor windows, one blocked, one sash, and 3 ground-floor windows, one blocked. Short wing at right-angles to right, parallel to and adjoining rear wall of main range. Right return elevation: gable end of main range purplish-red brick, added right return wing red brick in Flemish bond, with plat band. Irregular fenestration of four 18-pane sashes.
