Former Stables to TQ 75 SW TESTON 2/241 East of Barham Court GV II Stables, now domestic. 1792, with later additions and alterations. Converted to dwellings in 1980's. Red and grey brick in Flemisn bond. Slate roofs. Long south range. Further ranges running north from west of centre and from east corner, and joined, at corners only, by north range, forming courtyard. North range stops at west-central range. Short range running north from west end of south range, and joined to Barham Court by service range to west. 2 storeys, ground floor much higher than first floor. Coursed stone plinth. South elevation: plat band at archway impost level. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. Hipped roof. Central wooden bell cupola dated 1792, with clock face to base, paired engaged Doric columns round bell above, and domed leaded roof with weathervane. Irregular fenestration of 10 recessed wooden casements; 6 (3 towards each end) with splayed rubbed brick voussoirs, other 4 probably C20. One 16-pane sash towards west end of ground floor and one paned 2-light window towards east end, both with segmental heads. Tall central round-headed archway with rubbed brick voussoirs, flush stone impost and base blocks, and broad panelled double doors incorporating foot door. 3 lower archways close-set to each side of central archway, with cambered heads rising above plat band, and further similar archway towards each end. Doorway with cambered head between end archways and central group. Courtyard: plat band and dentilled eaves to ranges on all four sides. Central break with hipped slate roof to east and west ranges. Almost regular fenestration of casements and blind windows towards yard. Outer walls virtually unpierced. Tall doubly-recessed round-headed archway with rubbed brick voussoirs to centre of east and west ranges. 2 segmental-headed archways to south end of west range. Segmental-headed doorways. Interior: only partly inspected. Scientific crown-post roof to west range. Clasped purlin roof with dragon ties and ridge-piece to east. Listing NGR: TQ7043653954
