Description

The following building shall be added to the list:- TQ 74 SW MARDEN - 3/10001 Oast House at Beech Farm - II Oast house. Brick on stowage dated 1808, lean to addition of c1940. Comprises 3 oblong kilns in an L shape of red brick with grey headers, moulded eaves cornice, hipped tiled roof with cowls and fantails. The attached stowage is of red brick with grey headers and hipped old tiled roof. 2 storeys. 2 parallel ranges. One 6-pane pivoting sash to each side. 1st floor entrance approached up wooden ladder. Brick lean to of 1 bay added c1940. Interior retains drying floors to kilns and plastered insides. Roof has through purlins, collar purlins and ridgepiece. Record of produce on the walls from 1889-1981. Fixed agricultural machinery by W Weeks and Son of Maidstone. Ground floor has cambered arches and brick floor. C20 corrugated iron barn attached to south is not of special architectural of historic interest. Listing NGR: TQ7470844884
