2. Dated 1789. 2 storeys red brick.  Hipped tiled roof with leaded ridges.  Modillion eaves cornice and stringoourse. 4 casement windows. Doorcases with flat hoods over, Nos 78 and 80 having a joint one.  Inscription on a tablet records that 'These almshouses were built A.D. 1789 by John Brenchley Esq in his life time for tle reception and£support of decay'd housekeepers of this town and endowed with a donation of £12 per annum to each for ever'.
Nos 70 to 86 (even) form a group.
