Description

YALDING SHINGLE BARN LANE TQ 75 SW (north side) 2/173 Fox Pitt II Farmhouse. Late C18, with later alterations. Front elevation faced with roughcast, side elevations red and grey brick in Flemish bond. Plain tile roof. Double depth. 3 storeys, on galleted stone plinth with chamfered top. Rendered plat band between ground and first floors, brick band between upper floors. Flat eaves soffits. Hipped roof, hips returning to rear. Two rear hips. Projecting brick stacks to front and rear of right and left gable ends. Regular 5-window front of recessed four-pane sashes, those to second floor under eaves, those to first floor with cambered heads. Venetian shutters to both upper floors. Two pentagonal bay windows to ground floor, under continuous flat, modillioned hood which follows curve of left bay and extends to right into single-storey roughcast addition with Diocletian window with tile keystone. Central half-glazed door with moulded architrave, under same hood. Farm bell towards rear of right gable. Two single-storey brick additions with hipped plain tile roofs to rear. Interior not inspected. House said to be named after C18 statesmen Fox and Pitt. Listing NGR: TQ7141851639
