YALDING TQ 64 NE Laddingford 3/147 The Olde Thatch GV II
House. C16, with addition of c.1982. Timber framed. Applied close-studding to ground floor, first floor rendered. Plain tile roof (formerly thatched). 3 timber-framed bays; right end bay storeyed from beginning, central and left bays possibly so. 2 storeys, on rendered plinth. Exposed framing to rear, with principal posts, first-floor arch brace to left bay, central stud to central bay, and tension brace to right bay. Half-hipped roof. Central multiple brick ridge stack. Irregular fenestration of 3 casements, two two-light and small central single-light. Ribbed door behind open timber porch under stack. Single-storey addition of c.1982 to right, with applied close-studding and steeply-pitched plain tile roof hipped to right. Interior: exposed framing. Broad joists to right end bay, morticed for axial partition, and with evidence for former gable-end jetty. Cross beam flush with right side of stack and morticed for partition. Unmorticed cross beam well to left of stack. Later joists to lett end bay. Three-light first- floor diamond mullion window with pegged cill and shutter groove to rear of right end. Edge-halved wall-plate scarf joint. Red brick fireplace in English bond, with chamfered bressumer, blocked bread oven, to right side of stack, ragstone wall to left side.
