Description

1. 5273 WOMENSWOLD DENNE HILL The former stables at Denne Hill (formerly listed as the stables at Denne Hill) TR 24 NW 18/714 30.1.67 II GV 2. These were probably built by John Morse between 1774 and 1777. Two storeys red brick. Tiled roof. Five windows. The centre portion of 3 windows projects with pilasters flanking each window bay on its ground floor and this forming 3 round-headed windows with a lurette window in the head of each above the ground floor level. Stone stringcourses above and below these. Parapet with a shaped gable in the centre containing a clock face and surmounted by a bell cupola with a tent-shaped lead roof. Recesses wings of one window each with a shaped gable over each. Carriage entrance below this. Shaped gable ends facing ninth-west and south-east. These were formerly the stables to the old Denne Hill, an C18 house now demolished. Listing NGR: TR2238849505
