Dane John mound pinnacle TR 1457 SE 8/225A 3.5.67.

2. The pillar was erected on top of the mound in 1830 to commemorate the work of James Simmons Esquire, an Alderman of the city, in laying out Dane John as pleasure grounds. Stone column with fluted base and supporting a vase, placed on a castellated square block with 4 niches, one on each side. The mound is scheduled as an ancient monument, being an early defensive mound of the city.
