Description

TQ 57 SE SWANSCOMBE AND GREENHITHE GREENHITHE 989/1/10016 Brick lined tunnel at Ingress Abbey II Garden tunnel. Early to mid C19, altered in 1940s. Stock brick garden wall bond round-headed arched tunnel about 75 to 100 feet in length. It is one of a number of garden features in the grounds of Ingress Abbey and it passes through a large chalk outcrop with views over the garden. During the Second World War the tunnel was blocked off with brickwork at both ends to form an air raid shelter. Listing NGR: TQ5879975165
