Two sections of Medieval walling were discovered during works associated with the construction of the post office on Biggin Street. Dover in 1912-1913. The upper wall was of Flemish brick and rubble and cut into the lower one which was of chalk laid on ‘stiff clay’, probably spread over the peaty soil.
