Full Description

Fragements of CLBR inscribed tile alongside sherds of Roman pottery were located at the former site of the Plaza Theatre on Cannon Street, Dover. The Plaza Theatre was equipped for the 'talkies' in 1929 and was taken over by ABC Cinema in 1931. The Roman material was acquired by Dover museum in 1931, and so it is possible that it was uncovered when work was undertaken to the premisis in either 1929 or by ABC in 1931. The tiles include both complete and partial stamps and there are at least 16 separate tiles represented in the assemblage. (1)
