Full Description
A wide variety of roman pottery finds were made during the construction of the dwellings on Priory Hill, Dover in 1883. Some of the pottery vessels contained cremation burials suggesting (along with the Roman remains what have been found on the site of St Martins Priory - now Dover College) that a Roman burial ground exists in this location. The assemblage includes three flagons, a mortarium, a quern, a water bottle, two plates, two cups, three cooking vessels, two urns (one containing a cremation) and four samian bowls, all are of a Roman date. The finds were donated to Dover Museum in 1883 where they are located still. (1)
