Full Description
Site of Methodist (Independent) Chapel. The Congregational Church was founded in Tonbridge in 1751 and in 1791 a new chapel, the @Independent Chapel' was built in Back Lane, now named Bank Street. It remained a place of worship for 85 years. In 1875 a new Congregational Church (Christ Church) was built on its current site in the High Street. The Baptist congregation had already left to form their own church in another part of the town. The Chapel is only shown on the 1862-75 map.
