Full Description

A disarticulated human skull of an unknown date was located during the works associated with renovations undertaken on Dover Priory Station in the early 1930's. The skull was located at a depth of c. 4.5m from the surface but there is no further information about the circumstances of its discovery available. Cremation burials of both an Iron Age and Roman date have been found at the site of the station suggesting that the station is located within the footprint of a cemetery. The skull was donated to Dover Museum in 1930 where it is located still. (1)
