Summary

A wide variety of different Roman pottery vessels were located during the Victorian redevelopment of Biggin Street, Dover, one of which contained a cremation burial. Many of the finds were donated to Dover Museum where they are located still. (location accurate to the nearest 50m based on available information)

Full Description

A wide variety of different Roman pottery vessels were located during the Victorian redevelopment of Biggin Street, Dover, one of which contained a cremation burial. The finds include two urns, a jar, a flagon, An olla, an amphorae, a drinking cup, a pedestalled cup and a bowl, all of which are of a Roman date. The cremation was within an olla. These finds were made between 1840 and 1854 though there is no further information about their location or the circumstances in which they were discovered. (1)
