Two Roman tiles were located within the grounds of Dover Priory, off Effingham Street, Dover in 1949. The tiles are both large and rectangular, one is of a light red clay while the other is of a pale pinkish clay. The tiles were donated to Dover Museum where they are located still. Full Description

Two Roman tiles were located within the grounds of Dover Priory, off Effingham Street, Dover in 1949. The tiles are both large and rectangular, one is of a light red clay with grooved parallel lines, irregular borders and a potters mark, while the other is of a pale pinkish clay with deep grooved V-shaped parallel lines. Both were donated to Dover Museum where they are located still. No further information about their location or the circumstances in which they were found is available. (1)
