Early records indicate that while ownership of No. 1 Camden Road was linked with Camden House, it has been let separately for a myriad of different retail functions. These include a tobacconist, Covent Garden Fruit Company, a wireless and electrical store, furniture dealers and a bakery. More recently 1a Camden Road has been combined with 53 Calverley Road (Camden House) let as part of White Stuff fashion store. The basement is access through the retail unit and also provides access to the basement of 53 Calverley Road. 1b Camden Road is a separate retail unit, most recently Crabtree and Evelyne but currently vacant. The basement for 1b is access through the retail unit and is evidently has been used for retail storage and staff areas. The first and second floors of 1a and 1b have previously been two residential apartments, although both appear to have been vacant for a number of years. No. 1 Camden Road is brick built with a slate roof. The facade is rendered at first floor level and the ground level has a glazed shop front. Timber sash windows are a replacement of the original.’ (1)
