Summary
Roman cooking pot found under a patch of ash at Brompton Farm. The pot consisted of the upper parts of a coarse greyish cooking pot c. 18cm diameter. It was dated to the late 1st/early 2nd century AD and contained oyster and snail shells as well as the charred knuckle end of a bone.

Full Description
[TQ 7293 7063] Strood, Brompton Farm. At a depth of 0.8m to 1.2m a patch of black ash was found to contain the upper parts of a coarse greyish cooking pot about 18cm in diameter, apparently of the late first or early second century AD date. The ash deposit yielded oyster and snail shells and the charred knuckle end of the bone. (1)
