Full Description

(TR37754938) An IA coin of the Iceni tribe was found by metal detection at Hawkshill 12-4-1992. The coin, ref HH-92-5 is dated to c 20 BC. The diameter is 13.75-16 mm, the weight 1.16 gm and it is made of AR. The coin portrays on the obverse, a head left and on the reverse a celticized horse right, pellet-in-ring below, another pellet-in-ring to right, with horse holding branch in mouth. The coin is chipped and obverse is extremely worn. It is early face/horse A type, not in VA, but of same type as Mossop sale catalogue, numbers 86 and 87. Now in Dover Museum. (1)
