Full Description
(TR361486) An IA coin dated to c 288-278 BC, of the Sicilian or Mamertini tribe, ref MSRC-REIDR-IA-17, was found by metal detection near Ringwould in 1991. The coin is made of AE, weighs 4.83 gm and has a diameter of 19.25-20.5 mm. The obverse side has a Laureate head of young Zeus left and the reverse has an Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, wings spread. Catalogue reference Corpus Nummorum Siculorum, Mamertini 15 series. The coin is very worn. Probably late Iron Age import. (1)
