Summary
A late Iron Age coin was found by a metal detectorist on Cottington Hill in 1991. The coin has been idenitifed as of Cantian type, from the reign of Dubnovellaunus. Whilst some coins of Dubnovellaunus appear as early as 40-30 BC, this specimen has been dated to c.23-17 BC. The coin is made of silver and depicts a uncertain animal and a Celticized horse on either of its sides. The present location of this find is unknown.
