Full Description
(TQ78855105) Late Iron Age coin dated to c 45-40 BC of the Cantii tribe, ref MSRC-GARYR-IA-6. Discovered near Parkwood by metal detection in Nov 1992. The coin which is an AV quarter-stater measures 12-12.5 mm in diameter and weighs 1.30 gm. The obverse side is almost plain apart from lines near edge. The reverse shows a very stylized trophy, boxes have central wavy line, four rings and pellet-in-rings below trophy, rings and crescents in field. The catalogue reference is VA 145-1 or 147-1. It is a Cantian G type and has the same reverse die as MSRC-SINCR-IA-12. (1)
