Full Description

In advance of a new 950m security trench, in April 2013 fieldwork was done along the proposed ditch by Archaeology South-East particularly at the intersection between the security trench and the old shooting butts at the end of Milton Rifle Ranges. The proximity to Shornemead Fort and the old rifle range (built 1859/60) led to predominat finds of bullets of a range of calibres of British Army issue. The work also uncovered some post-medieval pottery and brick fragments (both post-Medieval) (1).
