During an archaeological evaluation undertaken by the Canterbury Archaeological Trust at, Dover Road, Folkestone, Kent a slightly organic deposit formed from dark grey sandy clay loam of 0.5m maximum thickness was revealed. This contained common charcoal flecks, common peg-tile, rare animal bone and rare oyster shell.
