Full Description
Emmuanuel Congregational Church was built in 1867 and demolished in 1974. It replaced a Countess og Huntingdon's Connexion Chapel built in 1769 on the same site. The church/chapel is shown on the 1862-75, 1897-1900, 1907-23 and 1929-52 maps. The site became the forecourt for the former Kent & West Sussex Hospital.
Site of Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion chapel in Mount Ephraim built in 1769 as a timber-framed building and enlarged in the 19th century. It was rebuilt in 1867 by Wimble and Taylor of London, and renamed the Emmanuel Church, but was demolished in 1974. (1)
