Full Description
(TR3355520) Iron Age coins (23) were discovered near Worth by metal detection in the 1980s. Coin reference no.s: TWRA-TYMAC-IA-91, 96, 84, 86, 23, 30, 46, 47, 50, 4, 6, 10, 11, 22, 62, 69, 75, 54, 58, 109, 97, 103, 104. (See catalogue for details). The coins vary in date from c 100 BC up to 40 AD and are of tribes including Trinovantes, Ambiani and Atrebates. The earlier coins are made from cast bronze potin and the later ones from AE. The weights of the coins vary from 1.15 gm to 4.09 gm. Although most of the coins are in worn and/or damaged condition, the designs can be clearly identified. (1)
