Summary

Three-storey, brick hospital of 1809-1812. It replaced the former Royal Naval Hospital of 1795. In 1900 the site was converted into barracks and renamed East Barracks. Building No.99.

Full Description

Building number 99, The Royal Marines School of Music. Now the headquarters of the Royal Marines School of Music. Formerly a three-storey, brick hospital of 1809-1812. It replaced the former Royal Naval Hospital of 1795 which was struck by lightening. In 1912 the last of the old hospital was replaced by main range which stands today. In 1900 the site was converted into barracks and renamed East Barracks. The 19th century ranges are built yellow brick marbelled with pink and are covered with a hipped, slate roof
