Full Description
Ex: VENUS. A hired vessel taken on by the V.O.C. in 1771, left the Texel on 17.01.1783 but ran aground and was wrecked. Her first voyage for the company had been under her original name, after which the Dutch East India Co. renamed her with the intention of purchase. Her cargo included bale goods (ie. cloth), gunpowder, warlike stores and 20,000 in silver specie.
