`...struck ashore at midnight on the Goodwin Sands, displaying lights and signals. The Walmer Road boat GARLAND went out and saved all the crew. It was later said that much daring courage, extraordinary efforts and resolution had been exhibited by the crew of the GARLAND in reaching the vessel.'
