`...shortly after daybreak on Monday morning, the North Sand Head light vessel fired four guns, announcing a vessel in distress. Boat after boat was launched, both galleys and luggers and a regatta on a grand scale was the result, crowding on all sail endeavouring to be the first to board the unfortunate vessel.
