Full Description

`At 8am on the Sunday the Ramsgate lifeboat under tow of the SS AID was again at sea, rounded the North Sand Head and found a vessel ashore on the south east spit of the Goodwins with 10 crew clinging to the mizzen mast. The lifeboat cast off, made five attempts to rescue the crew each of which failed, only the sixth being successful, after which they cut the line to the wreck and made for Ramsgate arriving at 2.30pm. This being the second launch of the lifeboat in 24 hours having already been out to the wreck to the MIZPAH, later refloated, hence the Ramsgate crew were exhausted especially the 1st and 2nd Coxswains, Mr. Jarman and Fish respectively. The survivors of the Danish vessel were taken to the Sailors Home, in York Street. The crew of the lifeboat and the tug were awarded 1.2s. each by the King of Denmark as a reward for their services, but the men concerned were very dissatisfied with this amount.'
