`...ashore on the outside of the Goodwins at 11pm on Monday night having mistaken her position. The crew, mostly Swedes, cut down her main and mizzen masts to lighten the vessel and awaited the arrival of the Ramsgate lifeboat which took them to safety after rockets were fired by the GULL lightship to alert those onshore.'
