`...On Wednesday afternoon rockets from the North Sand Head light vessel caused the Ramsgate lifeboat and tug to leave for the area, but after cruising around returned empty handed. It has since transpired that at 3am on Wednesday, the schooner MAID OF ANGLESEA went ashore on the North Sand Head and became a total wreck. The captain and his two man crew left in their own boat and were picked up by the SS STRATHBLANE, of Glasgow, whence they were transferred to a `knock-toe' and landed at Deal.'
